Secretary of the Party Central Committee, President of the Academy receives and works with the Ambassadors of Nordic countries to Vietnam

Speaking at the meeting, Prof, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Party Central Theoretical Council, President of the Academy gave an overview of the formation history, functions and duties of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics within the political system of Vietnam, and especially emphasized its position and role. As an agency attached to the Party Central Committee and the Government, under the immediate and regular direction of the Politburo and the Secretariat, the Academy has been assigned with the following tasks: (i) training and fostering mid-level and high-ranking leaders, managers, and political scientists of the Party, the Government, and sociopolitical organizations; (ii) conducting scientific research for training and consultation, giving scientific grounds for the policy-making progress in Vietnam; (iii) responsible for professional content for 72 cadre training schools of the Party throughout the country.

To perform political tasks well, the Academy has been actively renovating the contents and the curricula of all classes; has coordinated with the Central Organizing Commission in building mechanisms and training processes to ensure the compatibility and efficiency; has built curriculum for knowledge enhancement courses, especially those for potential central and local leaders and managers, and has coordinated with the Central Theoretical Council to implement research on appreciating the development of Vietnam, such as summarizing the 10-year implementation of the Platform and the socio-economic development strategy…

Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang affirmed the remarkable achievements of Vietnam in recent socio-economic development, especially after the global economic crisis; as well as the foundations in the relationship between Vietnam and Nordic countries in general, the Academy and Nordic partners in particular. He emphasized the priority orientation in the cooperation in the coming time, including focusing on the joint research on the model of Nordic countries in the context of the 4.0 revolution, on the changes in development thinking, the contents of management leadership in the context of social network development, on human rights and social security issues, on inclusive development,… He hoped that the ambassadors in their positions would contribute to further promoting the relationship between the Academy and the Embassies in particular and the Nordic partners in general with plentiful, varied and appropriate forms.

Sending sincere thanks to the warm reception of the leaders of the Academy, four Nordic ambassadors emphasized that "Nordic countries have many differences but they are closely associated by common values such as equality, transparency, confidence and entrepreneurial spirit, and through the long-standing friendship mechanism within the bloc"; North Europe is one of the areas that established diplomatic relations with Vietnam early, especially Sweden. Support comes not only from the government but also from the people in these countries.

In agreement with the cooperation proposals of Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang, the ambassadors of the four Nordic countries affirmed their wish to establish formal cooperation with the Academy in the coming time through activities such as meetings, conferences, seminars, joint researches between the scientists of the Academy and North Europe, focusing on the contents such as: the 4.0 technology and innovation, the role of private enterprises; the media, the press and the industrial revolution 4.0; democracy, governance, human rights education, the rule of law; socio-economic model, Nordic foreign policy, and other issues of mutual concern.

Nordic countries, including Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden and Iceland are currently considered as one of the most effective governance models in the world. The socio-economic development model of this region has made great achievements in economic growth, social welfare, environmental protection and cultural preservation. Although there are only 26 million people, North Europe is one of the most integrated regions and is the 11th largest economy in the world with a total GDP of $1.416 billion. The Nordic countries have always maintained high economic and social indicators, leading the world's rankings and metrics on creativity, transparency, democracy, social progress, inclusive development, sustainability…
