Before the MoU signing ceremony, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang, Member of the Party Central Committee cum President of HCMA had the meeting with Mr. Craig Chittick, Australian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Vietnam.

Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang highly appreciated the achievements in the collaborative relationship between HCMA and Australian academies, institutes and universities in many fields over the years. Introducing the functions and mission of HCMA, he asserted that beside its core function of training high-ranking officials of the Party and Government, the Academy has always paid great attention to building and promoting international relationship. Therefore, he hoped that the Australian Government and the Embassy to Vietnam would support the Academy in building theoretical and practical framework for the major Gender in leadership and management to share experiences in political reform and economic development, model of growth in current situation, and sustainable development in the context of climate change.

Ambassador Craig Chittick expressed his pleasure about the development in cooperative relationship between Australia and Vietnam in general and with HCMA in particular. He hoped that the institutes and universities of Australia and subordinated academies of HCMA will expand the collaboration in more sectors to enhance friendship between the two countries in the future.

Participants included Ambassador Craig Chittick, representatives from the Australian Embassy to Vietnam, Asia Foundation in Vietnam, and World Bank. On HCMA side, there were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Quoc Ly, Vice President, leaders from the Department of International Cooperation and Gelead and representatives from other departments and subordinate academies of HCMA.

At the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Quoc Ly highly regarded the support from the Australian Embassy to Vietnam via Vietnam-Australia human resources development program, which helped to facilitate the development of Vietnam. He emphasized that the Academy always ensured the best conditions to deepen the cooperative relations between the Academy and the Embassy, acting as the bridge to connect the Aus4skills program with Vietnamese ministries and departments and popularizing the findings and initiatives from the cooperation to all units and departments of the Academy through seminars and conferences. The findings and initiatives served as the foundation for policy consultancy for leaders at central and provincial ministries and departments.

As part of Australia-Vietnam development cooperation program (Aus4Vietnam), Aus4Skills is a five-year aid program of the Australian Government for Vietnam. “Promoting women’s leadership” is a cooperative part in the MoU between Gelead and Aus4Skills, in which Australia commits to supporting Vietnam to achieve its gender equality targets and gender equality in leadership by providing more opportunities for female leaders and mobilizing colleagues’ collaboration to help women create significant influence at the workplace and in their field of specialization.
