Finland’s Ambassador to Vietnam visits and works with Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics

The reception also saw the participation of leaders and staff representing functional units under the Academy, such as Department of International Cooperation, Department of Training Management, Department of Scientific Management, and the Academy’s Office.

Expressing the joy of welcoming the Ambassador for the first time to visit and work at the Academy, Assoc. Prof. Dr Nguyen Viet Thao briefly introduced the general overview of the Academy’s formation and development, its special position and role in the political system of Vietnam. Highly valuing the long term and traditional cooperation between Vietnam and Finland during 45 past years, Assoc. Prof. Dr Nguyen Viet Thao hoped that the Ambassador in his position would be a bridge connecting and expanding the cooperative relationship between the Academy and Finland partners, especially in the common areas of interest, thereby enhancing and deepening the cooperation between the two countries.

While expressing sincere thanks to the Academy’s warm reception, Mr Kari Kahiluoto expressed his honour to visit and work with the Academy; he, at the same time, affirmed that Finland’s Embassy to Vietnam was always willing to support and promote effective cooperation between the two sides, especially in 2018 - the 45th anniversary of Finland-Vietnam diplomatic relations (1973-2018). On the specific collaborative orientation between two sides in the near future, the Ambassador believed that the units of the two sides will have detailed sessions later but he hoped that the relation between Finland’s Embassy to Vietnam and HCMA will be more improved, contributing to the bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

At the reception, the Ambassador gave the book “Social Reform Innovations in Finland” to Assoc. Prof. Dr Nguyen Viet Thao and sent an invitation to HCMA’s leader to join the workshop on social welfare of Northern Europe countries in Hanoi on March 23th 2018 co-organized by Finland’s Embassy to Vietnam and Sweden’s Embassy to Vietnam.

On behalf of the HCMA’s leader, Assoc. Prof. Dr Nguyen Viet Thao affirmed that the Academy would be pleased and willing to attend the workshop. He also thanked the Ambassador for the meaningful gift and expressed his affection and respect for Finnish people and country because of their support and help for Vietnam both in the past years of revolution and in the building and development process nowadays. He wished the Ambassador would successfully complete his duties and have good time in Vietnam.
