Academy President receives and works with World Bank Country Director for Vietnam

Congratulating Mr. Ousmane Dione on his position as World Bank Country Director for Vietnam, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang believed that Mr. Ousmane Dione will continue to promote, strengthen and further deepen the partnership between the World Bank and Vietnam in general, and with the Academy in particular on the basis of positive results that have been achieved by his predecessor, Ms. Victoria Kwakwa, Vice President of the World Bank at present.

At the meeting, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang highly appreciated WB's contribution in supporting Vietnam to achieve great and stable progress in macro-economic stability, maintaining economic growth rate, developing financial market, deeply enhancing integration with the region and the world, especially the positive results of cooperation between the WB and the Academy in recent years.

Emphasizing the position and special roles of the Academy within Vietnamese political system, giving an overview of over 30-year national renewal with basic transitions and achievements, as well as proposing plans and strategies to develop the country in the coming time, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang hoped that the WB would continue to coordinate and support the Academy in researching, identifying resources and creating breakthrough innovation so that Vietnam would develop steadily and effectively and adapt to the change of the current world context. The most noteworthy cooperative contents should emphasize effective growth, social welfare, institutional change toward a tectonic, transparent, action-oriented and developed government. At the same time, he suggested that Mr. Ousmane Dione, as the World Bank Country Director for Vietnam should keep on paying attention to accelerating the realization of the WB's research results in the Academy’s training programmes, especially sharing management and leadership issues in the countries that WB had a clear and positive impact.

Congratulating Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang, President of the Academy for the new position which reflects the trust from the Party, State and people toward the President himself in particular and the Academy in general, Mr. Ousmane Dione believes that the two institutions will have effective cooperation in the coming time.

Regarding the 4.0 revolution and the reforms that Vietnam is making to become a developed country with modern institution, Mr. Ousmane Dione thought that these are elements that constitute a strategic vision. The WB hopes to further enhance cooperation and share knowledge in the fields of economy, politics, society, policy consultancy, etc, with the Academy. Thus, the WB will help Vietnam to improve its competitiveness, accelerate and successfully implement the reforms, heading toward a modern State with a strategic vision, ensuring growth and prosperity for all people. To achieve that objective, within the Country Partnership Framework (CPF) Vietnam – World Bank for the period 2017-2022, the WB proposed three pillars of cooperation and hoped to receive the sharing and evaluation of the leaders of the Academy on the contents that should be researched, discussed, exchanged, as well as assessments on Vietnam's current situation, vision, development orientation and the ways approach to reach that vision.

At the workshop, the two sides also spent a lot of time discussing the status and results of socio-economic development that Vietnam has achieved over the past time. The WB announced the main contents, priorities and methods to implement Vietnam – World Bank Country Partnership Framwork (CPF) for the period 2017-2022. Mr. Ousmane Dione affirmed that the WB would strengthen the cooperation and further support Vietnam for peace, stability, development and prosperity.
