Academy President met the Embassies and international organizations in Vietnam on the occasion of New Year 2018 and Lunar New Year of the Dog

Attending the meeting were Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam cum President of the Academy; Vice Presidents of the Academy: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Quoc Ly, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Viet Thao; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Pham Lam, the permanent deputy secretary of the Academy’s Party Standing Committee, representatives of specialized institutes and functional units under the Academy and representatives of the Political Academy of Region I, II, III, IV and Academy of Journalism and Communication. Delegates attending were ambassadors, diplomats and representatives of international organizations in Vietnam.

Speaking at the meeting, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang, President of the Academy appreciated the invaluable, sincere and effective cooperation with embassies and international organizations in Academy’s training and scientific- research activities, which contribute critically and actively to fulfilling the noble mission that the Party and State have entrusted to the Academy over the years. The documents of the 12th Congress have defined open-door policies of the Party and State in the spirit of “independence, autonomy, peace, cooperation and development, diversification and multilateralisation in external relations, actively and positively integrate into the world, be a friend, a trusted partner and a responsible member of the international community”.

Deeply grasp that spirit, the Academy has been implementing international cooperation activities in both breadth and depth and focusing on maintaining, strengthening and deepening cooperative relationships with more than 200 regular international partners and constantly expanding new partnerships. In 2017, the Academy continued to implement effective and quality programs and projects to cooperate in training and fostering bureaucrats, to collaborate in research programs, knowledge and experience sharing and academic exchange programs, and to organize many important international conferences and seminars to propose practical policies.

Affirming the priority in the international cooperation strategy of the Academy, which is derived from and related to the strategic misions of the Academy, and in consolidating and affirming the position and role of the Party Central Committee of Vietnam Communist Party, he hoped, in the coming year, the Academy and international partners would coordinate to find effective solutions, proposals and establish suitable mechanisms and methods of cooperation to meet with the requirements of the recent context and contribute to promoting the effectiveness of cooperation. The Academy’s President emphasized that through international cooperation, the Academy would contribute effectively to realising the consistent viewpoints and policies of the Party and the State on foreign affairs while still being able to absorb intellectual values, experiences and leadership skills in management and governance in the context of vivid and fast changing realities. He furthered that in doing so, the Academy would make a contribution to the successful implementation of the Party's 12th Resolution, the society - economic development strategy in the period of 2011-2020 and the 5year society - economic development plan in the period of 2016-2020.

Ms Caitlien Weisen, Country Director of UNDP, delivered a speech at the meeting

On behalf of the delegates, Ms Caitlien Weisen, Country Director of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Vietnam, expressed her great pleasure to attend this very meaningful meeting and would like to thank the Board of Presidents of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politic for the warm welcoming. Highly appreciating the role of the Academy in training leaders and managers and proposing policies for the Party and the State of Vietnam, Ms Caitlien Weisen affirmed the effective, sustainable and long-term cooperation relationship between the Academy and the United Nations (UN) in general and between the Academy the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in particular. She expressed her hope thatthe two parties would continue to strengthen the partnerships, as well as collaborate in researching and sharing development ideas, international experiences and policy solutions in the new period of cooperation.
